Cracking Plastic - rocket stoves and distillers
No video of the event yet, sorry!
Domestic Plastic disposal is turning out to be a serious concern in India Kerala, specifically, is still in non-compliance of the CPCB rules concerning Plastic Waste Disposal. (Annexure 1, )
This author believes that the main reason that plastic, unlike organic waste, tends to accumulate, is because it is seen as useless. However, certain types of plastic, when pyrolised can break down into useful diesels. This endothermic reaction can be seen as part of the household lifestyle and can contribute to plastic being seen as a useful raw material.
A simulation of a wood burning pyroliser is presented, and the workshop intends to build a functioning burner with participants. http://www.cpcb.nic.in/divisionsofheadoffice/pcp/management_plasticwaste.pdf
